MaxFilament HIPS filament, black, 1,75 mm 1 kg
Description
HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene), also known as high-impact polystyrene, is a grafted copolymer made of styrene and butadiene. The result is an inexpensive plastic that combines the best of both worlds: the rigidity and strength of polystyrene and the flexibility and impact absorption of polybutadiene.
ADVANTAGES
- Lower density than ABS - 1.04 g/cm³ - allows lighter parts to be printed.
- Strength, flexibility and impact resistance similar to ABS.
- Safe for packaging production in the food industry.
- Resistant to most solvents, weak acids and bases.
- Soluble in d-limonene.
- Melting point above 180°C.
- Glass transition temperature: 100 °C.
- High bending modulus of 1550 MPa and tensile strength of about 22 MPa make parts made of MAX HIPS rigid and strong.
- Easy to machine, grind, glue and paint with acrylic paints.
USAGE
In 3D printing, MaxFilament HIPS is most commonly used as a support material for ABS and ASA prints. In addition, it is increasingly used for prototyping automotive and motorcycle parts, accessories and replacements. For low-volume production of casings, accessories and spare parts. In industry for testing sensor housings, microcontrollers, and electronic equipment.
How to print
- Nozzle temperature: 220 - 240°C
- Table temperature: 90° - 110°C (recommended printing in a closed chamber)
- If you have problems with prints peeling off, especially printing without a closed chamber, it is recommended to use adhesives.
- A heated chamber is not required, however, the ambient temperature of the working field in the range of 50-80°C improves the adhesion of individual layers which positively affects the mechanical and aesthetic properties of the finished part.
- To optimize print cleaning, using MAX HIPS as a support material, place it in a closed container with d-limonene for about 24 hours. To speed up this process, it is recommended to use an ultrasonic bath or stirrer.
- Drying of the filament at 65-75°C for about 6-8h
